The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 put named duties on the client, principal designer, principal contractor and contractor. On a notifiable job you need a construction phase plan before work starts, and the pre-construction information has to reach the people doing the work.
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks. On site that usually arrives as a RAMS pack, signed by the crew who will follow it.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 ask for planning, supervision and a rescue plan, and scaffolds and mobile towers carry their own inspection record.
Hot works, confined spaces, live services and excavations are usually controlled by permit, with precautions ticked before issue and the permit closed afterwards.
Specified injuries, over-seven-day absences and dangerous occurrences are reportable to the HSE, and the accident record has to be kept whether or not it is reportable.
