The duties behind the paperwork
Moving and handling
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require avoidance where reasonably practicable and an assessment where it is not, and in care that assessment is usually person by person as well as task by task.
Hoists and lifting equipment
LOLER 1998 requires thorough examination of hoists and slings at statutory intervals, with the reports kept.
Water safety
Legionella control matters more where residents are vulnerable, with temperature monitoring and flushing records expected.
Fire safety and evacuation
A current fire risk assessment plus personal emergency evacuation plans for residents who need them.
Incidents, RIDDOR and safeguarding
Falls, injuries and dangerous occurrences need recording, with the RIDDOR test applied and the outcome evidenced.
